The romantic city of Shillong, also known as “Scotland of the East” is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in North-East India. The name Shillong was derived from “Leishyllong”, which means the God, who is believed to be residing on the Shillong Peak. The maximum altitude of Shillong is 1,520 meters or 4,990 feet above sea level. Shillong is at distance of 104 km from Guwahati, 295 km from Kaziranga, 578 km from Siliguri and 658 km from Darjeeling.
Guwahati is the capital of the state of Assam (the origin of Bihu dance). The famous Kamakhya Temple is situated in Guwahati. This is one of the most visited and holy pilgrimages of the country. Millions of pilgrims visit this holy place every year.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Guwahati.

  • On arrival at Airport or Railway Station, get transferred to Hotel.
  • Check in to Hotel and get refreshed.
  • As per availability of time, one may go for Sun down or Sun Set River Crusise on mighty river Brahmaputra.
  • Dinner & Night Stay in Hotel.

Day 2: Temple Visit & Transfer to Shillong from Guwahati

  •  Early morning Visit Maa Kamakhya temple which is situated at the top of the Nilachal Hill. Maa Kamakhya Temple is the most sacred among the Tantrik shrines of Shakti worship in the world.
  • After Darshan proceed for Shillong.
  • On the way stop for halt at breathtaking Umium Lake (also known as Barapani).
  • On arrival visit Don Bosco Museum and Lady Haydri park.
  • later Check-in to the hotel.
  • In the evening stroll around Shillong’s famous Police Bazaar.
  • Dinner and Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 3: Shillong to Cherrapunjee

  • After breakfast start for excursion to Cherrapunjee, the second wettest place on the earth.
  • On the way visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city of Shillong.
  • At Cherrapunjee visit Dwan Syiem View Point, Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls, Eco park and Ramakrishna Mission.
  • Return to Shillong by the evening.
  • Dinner and Overnight Stay at Shillong.

Day 4: Shillong to Mawlynnong

  • After breakfast proceed to Mawlynnong village – the cleanest village in Asia. Enjoy the sightseeing of the village in Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed all along mark the village.
  • Later vist Dawki. Enjoy boating over Umgot river -famous for its crystal clear water.
  • Visit Living Root Bridge and Mawlynnong Village.
  • Return back to Shillong in the evening.
  • Dinner and Overnight Stay at Shillong.

Day 5: Shillong to Guwahati- Departure Transfer

  • After breakfast check-out from Hotel and transfer to Guwahati Airport/Rly. station.
  • Reach home safely with with wonderful Shillong memories!
