Shillong and Guwahati could easily be treated as the twin cities from the tourism perspective. While once place is blessed with endless natural beauty, the other one stands tall with its famous for the Kamakhya Shrine, One-horned Rhinos and the traditional Bihu dance form which was originated in Assam. Kaziranga National Park is the largest home for One-horned rhinos in the world. Summer is quite hot in both areas but winter could be chilly cold.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Shillong from Guwahati Airport / Rly. Station

  • On arrival at Airport or Railway Station, get transferred to Shillong.
  • On the way stop for halt at breath-taking Umium Lake (also known as Barapani).
  • Check-in to the hotel.
  • After Refreshment, (as per the availability of time) visit Don Bosco Museum and Lady Haydri park.
  • In the evening stroll around Shillong’s famous Police Bazaar.
  • Dinner and Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 2: Shillong to Cherrapunjee

  • After breakfast start for excursion to Cherrapunjee, the second wettest place on the earth.
  • On the way visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city of Shillong.
  • At Cherrapunjee visit Dwan Syiem View Point, Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls, Eco park and the Ramakrishna Mission.
  • Return to Shillong in the evening.
  • Dinner and Overnight Stay at Shillong.

Day 3: Shillong to Mawlynnong

  • After breakfast proceed to Mawlynnong village – the cleanest village in Asia. Enjoy the sightseeing of the village in Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed all along mark the village.
  • Later vist Dawki. Enjoy boating over Umgot river -famous for its crystal clear water.
  • Visit Living Root Bridge. Acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh contribute to the ambience of this beautiful small village.
  • Return to Shillong in the evening.
  • Dinner and Overnight Stay at Shillong.

Day 4: Shillong to Kaziranga National Park

  • After Breakfast proceed for Kaziranga; the home of the “One Horned Rhinoceros”.
  • Check-in to the Resort
  • Kaziranga National Park having area of 430 sq-kms, is inhabited by the world’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
  • By evening visit Orchid Park (Showcasing a wide variety Orchid along with various Cultural and traditional aspects of Assam) . Dinner and overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 5: Jungle Safari at Kaziranga National Park- Guwahati

  • Early morning at 5 AM, go for Elephant ride in Kaziranga National Park.
  • Return for Breakfast , Later go for Jeep safari in the Central Range. (Safari charges are not included in the package cost).
  • Have lunch and then proceed for Guwahati. Dinner and overnight stay at Guwahati.

Day 6: Departure Transfer

  • After breakfast check-out from the Hotel and proceed  for Maa Kamakhya Temple visit.
  • Later as per Train/flight timing get transferred to Railway Station or Airport..
  • Reach home safely with  wonderful  memories!
